Municipal News

On April 22, 2016, the Charleroi Area High School auditorium will be hip-hopping to the oldies! “A Blast from the Past” Oldies Show Vol. III will be the show to see this spring, brought to you by the efforts of the Charleroi Area School District Education Foundation.

Frankie Day of AM 770 is the Master of Ceremonies, introducing the bands that work furiously to keep the rockin’ and rollin’ oldies alive.

The play bill includes local Pittsburgh band The Marcels, who put the “Bomp” in the “Bomp-A-Bomp” way back in 1961 with their hit single ‘Blue Moon,’ and The Fabulous Hubcaps, singing and dancing together since 1974 as one of America’s favorite oldies show bands. The Fabulous Hubcaps have been inducted into Southern Legends Performing Arts Hall of Fame and the Maryland Entertainment Hall of Fame.

Come early and relive your teenage years with the classic car show that kicks off at 5 p.m. Our celebrity grill master, Charleroi Area School District Superintendent Ed Zelich, will be preparing your favorite hotdogs, burgers and refreshments while you stroll around looking at the cars. The doors will open at 6 p.m. with a lobby full of Chinese auction gifts. At 6:30 p.m. there will be an exciting performance by the Charleroi Area High School’s Show Choir, an energetic group of students that put on an a-cappella show that you have to see to believe! The Marcels start at 7 p.m. and perform until the 8 p.m. intermission. At 8:30 p.m. the Fabulous Hubcaps will dance onto the stage to begin their spectacular performance. They will even hang out afterwards for a meet and greet and photo opportunities.

Ticket are $50 for VIP, $35 for reserved, and $25 for general admission. Please call Carol Claybaugh at 724-483-7075 or Kristin Marcy at 724-330-5002 to get your tickets now!

The Charleroi Area School District Education Foundation is a non-profit board that provides economic support to enhance the performing arts, athletics, academics and extracurricular activities through fair and consistent distribution of funds provided in collaboration with business, community and alumni to all of the schools in the Charleroi Area School District. The Charleroi Area School District auditorium is located on the Charleroi Area School District Campus at 125 Fecsen Drive Charleroi, PA 15022.
