Central Fire Department in Elizabeth Township on Scenery Drive is getting a new marquee.
The old marquee outside of Central Fire Hall, erected circa 1975. |
Since the current one is outdated, damaged and brittle, not to mention how dangerous it is to change messages, the fire hall decided to use part of their budget to install a new LED marquee. The old one will be taken to the junkyard to be recycled.
The new marquee will cost the fire department about $17,000 with about $700 in fees. The new sign will hopefully be up and running by April 1st. The fire hall is encouraging the community to support their new marquee by placing advertisements, both personal and business-related. Businesses will receive a discount of $1 a day if they subscribe for a year or can opt to pay per month at $40, while personal messages will run $20 for 3 days. With over 150,000 cars that pass by the fire hall every year, the fire hall anticipates successful results for anyone purchasing an advertisement on the marquee. For businesses, the purchase can be tax-deductible or claimed as a donation on taxes.
The marquee will also be integrated with all Amber alerts and warnings.
Once the sign is paid for and proceeds begin to accrue, the funds will be used towards equipment, maintenance on the trucks, and building improvements, such as roof repairs.
If you are interested in placing an announcement or purchasing an advertising package, please contact Terry Halt at 412-751-9712 or through the website at etfd140.org. Go to 'hall rental', and then select 'send email.'
