The Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation (MARC) held its third 5K Run/Walk on August 10, 2019. This year’s event coincided with the 70th anniversary of the opening of the Cox Market in August of 1949 and the Monongahela 250th Birthday Weekend.

Beginning of the 5K Race in Monongahela

The “On Your MARC Cox Market Best Yet 5K Run/Walk” began and ended at the Monongahela Aquatorium and the 101 participants meandered through the neighborhoods of Monongahela and New Eagle. Medals were awarded to the three fastest runners and walkers male and female. Medals were also awarded in eight age categories for runners and seven age categories for walkers. Our youngest participant was seven years old and the most mature walker was 72 years young.

George Eckert, MARC President and Race Director, wishes to thank the members of MARC, The Monongahela Police Department, the Monongahela Volunteer Firemen, and the Ringgold Interact Club sponsored by William Calloway for their help with course management during the race.
