West Mifflin’s mascot, ‘T the Titan’, was a surprise visitor in the classrooms as the announcements were made to the teachers and students by district Math Coach Tina Keller and WMASD Literacy Coach Dina Fouser.
Soon after the school year began, students in Grades K-5 were given the Acadience Benchmark test for reading and math. The students were re-tested in January, the data compiled, and the classrooms in each grade that made the most significant growth in their composite scores were recognized.
“During the benchmarking process, Ms. Keller and I have the privilege of witnessing the remarkable growth of West Mifflin K-5 students,” Fouser said. “Their success is a testament to the dedication of the teachers and staff, who work tirelessly to ensure that all students continue to achieve and thrive.”
“We are really proud of how hard the students are working, and we look forward to seeing them progress even more this year and continuing to highlight their accomplishments,” Keller stated.
In addition to the growth accolades, classrooms also were recognized for winning the monthly Spring Math competition (Mrs. Maria Rader and Mrs. Gina Hilligsberg) and Mr. Dzuka’s students were the top fifth grade Study Island math class in January.
