All of us - everyone one of us - is facing the same problems in our communities of drug addiction, vandalism, crime, and blighted properties.

These major issues cannot be solved by communities standing alone, but together in a unified front, we can make an impact fighting our similar problems. The first step that needs to be taken is all of us having face time with each other, getting to know each other, and learning to understand each other.

What better way than to have a cookout and casual get-together at the North Belle Vernon Community Bank Park?

This event will be sponsored by the North Belle Vernon Community Bank Rec Commission with the food being prepared by Just-A-Tavern. It will take place on May 16, the day after the primary election, and the elected officials will be showing up because of their real concern for our area.

US 14th Congressional Candidate Rick Saccone has committed to attend. Along with Rick Saccone, PA State Senators Pat Stefano and Kim Ward; PA State Reps. Justin Walsh, Bud Cook, and Ryan Warner; Westmoreland County Commissioners Ted Kopas and Gina Cerilli; Fayette County Commissioner Vincent Vicites; and a host of local elected officials will be present.

Also planning on attending are representative Chris Whitlach, Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gina Lynn, and Council of Government leader Bernie Sarra.

This event is open to the general public, who are encouraged to attend if they have questions of their own.

The North Belle Vernon Community Bank Park is located at exit number 42 off Interstate 70.
