The Washington County Farm Bureau is once again working to make donations to the Greater Washington County Food Bank and is turning to the public to help by donating items in need. Items collected should be non-perishable, unopened, and have current sell-by dates. Examples include:
flour, sugar, sweetener, canned/dried soups, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, sauces, canned/dried meats, seafood, dried fruits and vegetables, non-fat dried milk.
Additionally, detergent, paper products, cake mixes, instant pudding, condiments, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items are also in need.
Donation boxes are set up at various locations throughout Washington County. Everything collected in your local area will go to your local food pantry.
All 4-H and FFA chapters are being encouraged to collect for their local food pantry. 4-H clubs are encouraged to enter into the 4-H Food Club Challenge. The clubs that collect the most pounds of canned goods will each receive a monetary prize. Additionally, all of the county libraries are entered into the Library Food Challenge. The libraries that collect the most pounds of canned good will each receive a monetary prize.
Monetary donations are also welcome. Make checks payable to: “The Greater Washington County Food Bank” and place “Farm Bureau” in the memo field. Mail donations directly to:
