Valley Garden Club held its first meeting of 2016 on January 14th at the Lynnwood Lutheran Church. President Janice Yeaton welcomed members and guest Judy Latchen of Belle Vernon, a guest of Fran Amatangelo.

A business meeting followed. Members voted on Valley Garden Club sponsoring two $1,000 scholarships for this year. Dodie Beerbower is the new scholarship chairman and can be reached at dodiebeerbower@gmail.com for more information.

A Standard Flower Show, to be held at the Monessen Public Library on June 18, was approved by the members. The theme will be "Globetrotting." Also discussed and approved was the annual fundraising luncheon, to be held at the YMCA in Charleroi on November 10th. The program will be presented by "The Floral Rhythms," a design group led by Angela Raitano.
