The Charthene Club met on January 7 in the Alumni Room on the campus of Charleroi High School.

Larisa Schock

A business meeting was held. A cookie sale was held during the holiday season. Jane Dorincz gave the report and thanked the members for their participation.

Mareen Lindsay, Chairperson of Youth and Education, announced that Larisa Schock was selected as January’s Girl of the Month. Larisa is an honor student and has been inducted into the National Honor Society. She is a member of Student Council, Chemistry Club, Yearbook Club, SADD, and STEM Club. Larisa is very involved in the community. She is a volunteer at Mon Valley Hospital, the National Blood Bank, has participated in Toys for Tots, Charleroi Cleanup Day, and many other activities. She plans to attend John Hopkins School of Medicine to become a pediatric anesthesiologist.

During the social time, members brought in items from their past and shared some memories with the club. Some of the items were pictures, jewelry, books, dishes, and a quilt.
