Miniature Railroad & Village® Unveils New Model
With the beloved Miniature Railroad & Village®, a Pittsburgh holiday tradition for decades, trains are a centerpiece of the holiday programming. A replica of Crawford Grill, the renowned Hill District jazz club from 1937 to 1951, is the latest gem added to the extraordinary display. Train fans will also enjoy “Lionel for the Holidays” with a classic model railroad layout, festive decorations, and a display of iconic advertising and packaging from Lionel’s 115 years – on view through the holiday season.

The Polar Express: An IMAX Experience in Omnimax

This magical holiday film on Pittsburgh's BIGGEST screen revolves around a doubting young boy who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole. The Polar Express is sponsored locally by: Mazda.
Rocky Mountain Express in Omnimax

DIY Laser Cut Holiday Ornaments

Hour-long workshops offer a chance to design and create laser cut holiday ornaments in the Science Center’s new Fab Lab, Pittsburgh’s digital makerspace. Fab Lab is presented by: Chevron.
Polar Pajama Party

Kids can stay in their PJs for this morning event featuring the Omnimax movie Polar Express, a hot chocolate bar with liquid nitrogen frozen marshmallows, make-and-take activities, selfies with Santa, private time in the Miniature Railroad & Village®, story time, and a train ticket and sleigh bell to take home!
On Dec. 5, a sensory-sensitive Polar Pajama Party has been developed specifically for those affected by autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders. More details online.

Adopt A Pet!

Highmark SportsWorks® will host the first ever seasonal competition. Visitors can test their skills with Comet’s Challenge and their speed with the Daring Dasher game.
