CPR Certification Prepares Elizabeth Forward Residents for Emergency Situations

There may not be a doctor in the house, but there could be a certified individual who could save your life, if that individual has received CPR training and certification.

On Sunday, February 28, Bill Petrosky instructed a class of 11 people, two of which were EF students, on what to do in an emergency. The course covered how to perform CPR, how to use an AED, and how to administer first aid in situations such as drowning, choking, and even bleeding.

The two-hour class was not only informative, but invaluable. Mrs. Carol Beinlich, owner of Triple B Farms, says Forward Township does not respond to emergency calls, so the burden rests on Jefferson Hills. Carol thought it best to be certified in case of an emergency situation.

Child care was provided at no cost during the class. Allison and Ashley Thaxton, two Elizabeth Forward students, volunteered their time to watch the only child to attend. The girls will have a permanent spot for future classes if they choose to participate.

Bill Petrosky also sells the defibrillators and even has access to a device that syncs with any smart phone to make sure that your heart rhythm is at a normal rate to help prevent heart attacks.
