The Greater Monessen Historical Society will participate in the 70th Annual Mon Valley Veterans Day Parade on November 8. A volunteer group of young people will march and model actual military uniforms donated to the archival collection.
The Museum will open as a warming station for visitors and participants. There will be food and warm beverages available for a nominal cost. The Veterans Exhibit will be available for viewing during the festivities.
The annual GMHS Fund Appeal and Membership drive has started. Membership is $15 for a calendar year for an individual, $20 for a family, or $50 for a business and includes four issues of the newsletter, "Valley Historian."
The Heritage Museum has started a campaign to raise $50,000 in matching grants to begin interior renovations on the museum annex building. Help us achieve our goals! Consider donating to the cause!
The upcoming spring exhibit will honor Monessen's Finnish community. Anyone having photos of Finnish families, neighborhoods, businesses or events are asked to bring them to the Museum during regular business hours for scanning. The originals will be returned. Photo scans can also be emailed to: Monessen@verizon.net.
GMHS is searching for donations of antique Christmas decorations to use in the front display windows of the Heritage Museum. Items can be dropped off during regular business hours.

The Heritage Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Admission is free.
