Allegheny County Airport has been selected to receive $223,000 in grant funding, state Rep. Bill Kortz, D-Allegheny, announced recently.

The grant will be used to acquire equipment to maintain the airfield including a new plow truck, landscaping equipment and a wheel loader to replace existing equipment that is old and unreliable.

“This is an important investment in the safety and operations of the airport,” Kortz said. “The smooth operation of the Allegheny County Airport is important to regional economic development, and this grant will help ensure that the airport continues to positively impact the entire area.”

Allegheny County Airport is among 26 airports across the state that will be receiving over $6 million in state investments. The investments include $2.2 million in state funding from PennDOT’s Aviation Development Program, which comes from the state’s jet fuel tax, and $4 million from the Multimodal Transportation Fund.
