Peters Creek Historical Society welcomes Vincent T. Ciaramella, a high school educator, and resident of Library, as its guest speaker on Monday, August 27. The program begins at 7:30 pm, in the social room of Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia.

The subject of his program is Eben Byers, a wealthy socialite, athlete and industrialist born in Pittsburgh. Eben Byers was at the top of his game at the dawn of the 20th century and one of the greatest amateur golfers in the world having won the 1906 amateur championship. Everything was going his way.......until his jaw fell off! Mr. Ciaramella brings back to life one of the most bizarre sports stories in American history. His talk will include artifacts from the Byers estate and Vince will have you wondering why you may have never heard of Eben. Come check it out, it could be radioactive!

The Enoch Wright House and gardens will be open to the public in August on Tuesday, August 7th
and Tuesday, August 21st from 5pm to 7pm.
