The Good Guys luncheon series in the South Hills of Pittsburgh has attracted some wonderful speakers over the years.
Sports figures, authors, physicians, financial advisors and physical therapists have been guests of Jim O’Brien, the Pittsburgh sports author and historian who founded the program four years ago.
They have helped to fund several non-profits, including the Guardian Angel Service Dog project for military veterans, and a youth athletic program in the Mon Valley.
The best is yet to come. Bishop Donald Zubik of the Archdiocese of Pittsburgh will be joined by Mrs. Geraldine Jones, the president of California University of Pennsylvania, for the July 19 program. Wives will be invited to this program. There are anywhere from 60 to 90 in attendance at these affairs, held at Atria’s Restaurant & Tavern in McMurray and TGIFriday’s in Bethel Park.
