The Community College of Allegheny County will host a free seminar on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), better known as drones.
Designed for novices to enthusiasts, ‘An Intro to Part 107: What it Takes to Become & Operate as a Remote Pilot’ will enable attendees to discover drones for the first time, as well as prepare them to become FAA-certified remote pilots. The seminar will be held at CCAC South Campus on Saturday, November 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room G–404.
Made possible by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), this seminar offers a comprehensive introduction to drones, which are starting to revolutionize how companies do business and are one of the fastest growing segments of aviation. There were more than 13,000 remote pilot certificate applications submitted during the first month of the FAA program.
Certified flight instructors will present the material in a fun, interactive way and will cover in-depth topics ranging from regulations and airspace to weather and emergencies. Attendees will be able to ask questions regarding remote pilot certification while meeting local instructors and gaining a connection to the aviation community.
Preregistration for the workshop is encouraged, as space is limited. To register for the seminar, click here or email Lori Paluti at lpaluti@ccac or call 412-469-4309 or 412-519-3956.
