On Saturday, August 12, 2017, the Monessen Fire Dept. #1 hosted the Annual Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association Convention. A parade of fire trucks, classic cars, politicians, bagpipers, and marching bands travelled down Donner Ave., from 12th street to the Social Hall.
Fire Chief Joe Altemara and wife Nicolette. Nicolette deserves credit for planning the Festival and Parade. |
Over 100 vehicles took part in the parade. A firemen’s festival followed outside the Social Hall at Eastgate 15 in Monessen, with plenty of food and refreshments. The band 'Adorabulls' entertained guests with live 80’s rock music, and a Fireworks show concluded the evening at 10 pm.
The Convention is held in a different city throughout Western Pennsylvania every year.
