The Mon Valley Radio Control (R/C) Club is hosting a giant scale airshow/fun fly on July 29 at the R/C Airfield in Cedar Creek Park. Jeff Sumey is the Contest Director.
Owner and a large scale model - Ready to fly |
The pinnacle of this weekend event is the noon – 4 p.m. airshow portion on Saturday. The public is invited to spectate static display and flying of all types of R/C aircraft including turbine jets, sailplanes, warbirds, helicopters, quadrotors, first-person view (FPV), and airplanes; some up to 40% scale size!
Free admission includes on-site parking, on-site concessions available for purchase via the Lions Club, 50/50 drawings, and eyefuls of gravity-defying aerial R/C antics by amazing R/C aircraft. This event is especially well-suited for kids ages 5 to 95.
The Mon Valley R/C Club offers flying opportunities for novice and experienced pilots. We conduct small group instructor-led classes for individuals with an interest in learning how to fly aircraft with an emphasis on how to fly safely. Our goal is to set you up for success beginning with the very first time you fly. This is a hobby you could enjoy for a lifetime. There is no age limit to this hobby.
The MVRC airfield is located in Cedar Creek Park near the intersections of Rte. 51 and Interstate 70. For more details about the classes, please contact John Millard, pilot instructor, at 412-877-2345. For club membership, please contact Linda Wojnar, club secretary, at 412-654-7867.
