A cold, windy, rainy day didn't stop five friends from reaching their goal of riding their bikes more than 100 miles for RiverRide 100 on the Great Allegheny Passage on Saturday, October 18 to benefit the Arthritis Foundation of Western Pennsylvania.
At the finish line, the fountain at the Point, are (l-r) Jeff Krakoff, Scott Bowlin, Vic Walczak, Craig Hoffman and Pete Chiste. |
The riders were Jeff Krakoff, 50, and Vic Walczak, 53, both from Upper St. Clair; Scott Bowlin, 35, Mt. Lebanon; Pete Chiste, 56, Peters Township; and Craig Hoffman, 42, Bethel Park.
Krakoff, Walczak and Chiste all have arthritis, and so far they have raised about $5,000 and will be accepting donations over the next few weeks.
The team started out in Rockwood, PA in Somerset County at 7:46 a.m. and arrived at the Point State Park fountain at 6:15 p.m. for a total of 106 miles in 10 hours, 29 minutes on the trail.
