Library News

West Newton Public Library announces upcoming events.

Spring is in the air and we have a great event just for you. On Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m. the library will be hosting floral artist Lori Waryanko. Lori will help you create a wonderful springtime wreath that you can take home that very same day. The cost for the class and supplies is just $30 a person; bring wire cutters and scissors. Call 724-972-3229 to RSVP. Please note payment must be received before the scheduled class.

Saturday, April 16 will be our monthly children's event with activities kicking off at 11:30 a.m. Please call the library for more details.

Save the date for the Library's Annual Mega Jewelry Sale and Book Sale on Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. to 3p.m. We will have hundreds of pieces to choose from with prices starting at just a $1. The book sale will include hundreds of books with paper backs for 25 cents, hard backs for $1, or fill an entire bag for $5. This sale will take place in conjunction with the West Newton Community Wide Yard Sale that day.

Updated information: please take note that the Stan Gordon lecture will take place on Saturday, June 18 at 11:30 a.m. The event will take place at the West Newton Senior Center at the corner of Main and Water Street. Stan will be discussing updates on local activities and will have copies of his books available for signing. There is a suggested donation of $5 per adult.

The West Newton Library would like you to consider donating any of your unwanted jewelry and books that you may come across during your spring cleaning to the library. All of your items will be put to good use will all proceeds raised going back to help keep the doors of the library open.

If you would like to make a donation to the library during our annual fund drive, just print out a copy of our fund drive letter and mail it back to the library. Every penny counts, especially since the library receives NO state funding.

The library is also looking for volunteers to help work at the library from filing books to organizing. The library is open Monday and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are able to give a few hours, please give the library a call at 724-972-3229 for more details.
