The Baldwin Public Library has announced the following August Events
Teen Drama Club Performance
The Baldwin Borough Public Library is excited to announce that its Teen Drama Club will be performing “Calling the Hawk” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 at Harrison Middle School. This is a free performance and is open to the public. For more information or to register, please call the library.
Save the World Superheroes – Monday, Aug. 3 and Aug. 17 @ 11 a.m.
Children entering grades K-2 can be everyday heroes by learning about plants and animals in their community and how to be kind to them. Environmental activities include bird feeders, planting and caring for seedling plants and herbs, and locating, identifying and journaling plant specimens and much more! Registration required.
Beyond the Brush Art – Monday, Aug. 3 @ 6:30 p.m.
Join local Michael’s art and craft instructor Michelle as she shares her love of artistic creativity with the community and brings her talent to the Baldwin Library! Children entering grades 2-5 can join Michelle as she introduces a new, exciting project each month and take home a beautiful, unique creation! Registration required.
Bouncing Babies and Books – Tuesday, Aug. 4 and Aug.11 @ 10:30 a.m.
This storytime, for babies birth-24 months, will include a book, lots of singing, some musical instruments, and a lot of fun for you and your baby! It's a great way to spend time with your little one while meeting new caregivers or meeting up with old friends. Tuesdays @ 10:30 a.m., year-round
Lunch Day and Open Play – Tuesday, Aug. 4, Aug. 11, and Aug. 18 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Set aside a special day to join friends for lunch (optional) and open play at the library before heading to the park or the pool! Children can enjoy building blocks, dinosaurs, cars, animals and many other creative play activities all around your schedule! All ages welcome!

Rock that Smock!: Art and Music Camp – Wednesday, Aug.5 @ 11 a.m.
We will be alternating art and music to create a camp your child won’t want to miss! Be prepared to get messy in art camp with a little paint and a lot of creativity! Music camp will highlight a featured instrument with a story and a make-and-take musical instrument! This program is geared to children ages 3-6, but all ages are welcome! Registration required.

Family Block Party – Wednesday, Aug. 5 @ 6:30 p.m.
Gather the family and head to the library for a block party! Your children can construct, apply mathematical, social, and fine motor skills and have the opportunity to experience dramatic and imaginative play. This program is made possible through the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Bureau of Library Develop.m.ent. Registration required.
Tales for 2s and 3s – Thursday, Aug. 6 @ 10:30 a.m.
A storytime specifically geared for toddlers who are 24-36 months old with a caregiver. We will read great stories, sing a lot of songs, and have plenty of music, movement, and fun! Your toddler will love meeting new storytime buddies! Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., June 11 through Aug. 20
Family Craft Me a Story – Thursday, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20 @ 6:30 p.m.
Head to the library for our Thursday twice-a-month evening family story/craft time! A story, songs, musical instruments, parachute play, bubbles, and a related craft at each session! All ages welcome! No registration required.
Preschool STEM Superheroes – Friday, Aug. 7 @ 10:30 a.m.
NEW for summer! We are incorporating science, technology, engineering and math into our preschool storytime for children ages 3-6 with a caregiver! Each weekly topic will include one fiction and one non-fiction story and related hands-on activities! Fridays through Aug. 21
Teen Screen Friday – Friday, Aug. 7 @ 6:30 p.m.
It’s the start of a fun weekend and time to chill out with your friends! Come to the library to relax, take in a teen movie (movie decided by teen voting!), and have some delicious snacks and drinks! Registration required.
August 7 - Sequel Night: Thor: The Dark World or X-Men: Days of Future Past
Super Community Heroes Saturday – Saturday, Aug. 8 @ 10:30 a.m.
Come out and meet this group of heroes from our own community, the firefighters, police officers, and paramedics. A great chance to see and talk to our heroes, learn about, their jobs, and explore their vehicles! Registration required.
Zip, Zap, Zoom! – Monday, Aug. 10 @ 6:30 p.m.
Children can run, leap, stomp, and groove their way through dance and self-expression in this lively creative movement program! Please wear comfortable clothing. This program is geared to children ages 3-6, but all ages are welcome! Registration required.
HEROES AT THE MOVIES – Tuesday, Aug. 11 @ 1 p.m.
Escape the ordinary at the library! We are showing movies that feature modern day heroes. Light refreshments will be served. No registration required.

Be Your Own Travel Agent - Wednesday, Aug. 12 @ 2 p.m.
Want to get away? We’ll go over some great sites to help you get started in planning your next trip. Topics include: comparing flight prices, to reading hotel reviews, to finding sites to booking a rental home. Registration required.
Good Reads, Good Deeds Book Club – Wednesday, Aug. 12 @ 6:30 p.m.
Children can be a hero in this book club for students in grades 3-6 (along with an adult caregiver). We will focus on stories that highlight character traits such as kindness, caring, compassion, acceptance, and differences. Books will be available at the library one month before each club meeting date. In addition, we will choose a monthly service project to give back and spread kindness to our community. Together, we can brighten the world, one good book and one good deed at a time. Registration required.
Summer Craft Classes with Emily Klaczak - Crocheting: Thursday, August 13 @ 3 p.m.
Learn the basics of crochet, or learn new stitches & techniques! If you’re currently working on a project, feel free to bring it or bring your yarn and crochet hooks & learn something new. Registration required. Please see our website for a list of supplies needed for each class.
Welcome, Kindergarten! - Saturday, Aug. 15 @ 10:30 a.m.
Making the transition from preschool to kindergarten is a wonderful milestone met with emotions ranging from excitement to anxiety. Join us for a family morning of meeting other kindergarten students and families! Stories, games, refreshments, and a kindergarten welcome gift provided. Children should bring a few 4x6 photos of themselves for a special craft. Registration required.

Reading Rockets Preschool Book Club – Wednesday, Aug. 19 @ 6:30 p.m.

TAB (Teen Advisory Board) – Monday, Aug. 31 @ 6:30 p.m.
Join TAB and make a difference at your library! Board meetings are held once a month. Students in grades 6-12 -- come share your ideas and let your voice be heard about what YOU want to see at the library, recommend books, websites, programs, and social media to other teens, and earn volunteer hours. Become involved in YOUR community and YOUR library!
