Whitehall Public Library announces the following August Events:
Netflix NIGHTS! - Wednesday August 17 @ 6:30 p.m.
Each meeting, we’ll vote on a different movie to watch together on Netflix, the streaming video service that offers thousands of films with the touch of a button. And we’ll have pizza and snacks ready for movie-time munching! Now you can choose your own adventure . . . or comedy or mystery or romance! FREE - registration required.
Arctic August: Malts and Monsters! - Thursday August 18 @ 1 p.m.
Join us for a two-part afternoon of sci-fi creatures and ice cream that is sure to give you the summer shivers! We first welcome author and visual artist Matthew Buchholz for an “Alternate Histories” picture presentation that combines vintage artwork and photography with the creatures of your favorite classic monster movies!
Afterward, we’ll celebrate the days of the drive-in and double feature with “creature comforts” like malted drinks and ice cream for a Sundae Social chock-full of toppings and good conversation. Stories and Steel: A Summer Adventure of Words, Music,and Food! - Thursday August 25 @ 12:30 p.m.
Travel with the library to the plains of Africa and the tropics of the Caribbean for an afternoon of storytelling, steel drums, and feel-good food!
Professional bard Temujin Ekunfeo will fill the room with his voice as he shares folktales and fables rooted in the age-old oral tradition of Africa. The celebration continues with the steel drum music of local group Pan in Harmony whose repertoire includes calypso, jazz, and even pop standards!

WWII History Discussion Group - Wednesday August 31 @ 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
This program is open to all who are interested in military history and World War II. Veterans and non-veterans alike are welcome to join this lively group that meets on the last Wednesday of every month to discuss military conflicts and history. We watch films and war-era shorts, read literature, and talk about all things WW II. No registration required.
