Castle Shannon Library announces the following August Events:

Local Author Visit
Come and hear Pittsburgh native Beth Geisler talk about her new book, “100 Things to Do in Pittsburgh Before You Die” on Wednesday, August 3 @ 7 p.m. Beth will be selling and signing her books. Registration is preferred.

Painting Class at the Library
Painting Between the Wines will be here on Saturday, August 6 at 1 p.m. You will be able to recreate a beautiful painting named "Pittsburgh Sunrise." The cost is $30 per person and everything you need is included! This is a BYOB event so no one under 21 will be allowed to attend. Pre-registration is required. Online registration is available at www.paintingbetweenthewines.com.

Monthly Book Discussion Group
Join the group for some light discussion on the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Library. Registration is preferred but not required. Please call 412-563-4552 or stop in the library to register and to pick up your copy of the book. This month: “Five Days at Memorial” by Sheri Fink.

Water Party
It’s hot outside! Kids, why not cool off at the library with a water party on Tuesday, August 9 at 6 p.m.! Water balloons, water games, water EVERYTHING! Sign-up is required in case of cancellation. Cancellation notice will occur a half hour before the party starts.

Crafternoons for Adults and Seniors at the Library
Join us the third Wednesday of each month for Crafternoons. We will meet downstairs from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Bring your best craft ideas with you. Adults ages 18 and over welcome. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, August 17. If you cannot make it in the afternoon, stop by between 6 - 8 p.m. that night!

Theme This Month: Journal-Making
Please bring a notebook that is any size. Please call the library or stop in to register.

Cook the Book: A Cookbook Book Club
Do you love reading cookbooks and making new recipes? If so, then this is the club for you! We pick the cookbook or theme, you select and make a recipe from that theme. This month the theme is: DESSERTS. Bring your favorite dessert and the recipe on Wednesday, August 24 at 7 p.m. No cookbook this month! We want your recipes! Please register.

New Release Movie Night
Come to the library on Wednesday, August 31 at 7 p.m. to watch this film that is based on the best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes on our BIG screen. Emilia Clarke stars as a girl in a small town who forms an unlikely bond with a recently-paralyzed man she's taking care of. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is preferred. Please call register. Rated PG-13.
