The sixth grade physical science students are harnessing their knowledge of physics and simple machines to create their own Rube Goldberg machines.
Students made their own Rube Goldberg machines. |
A Rube Goldberg is a contraption that accomplishes a simple task in a fantastically complicated and imaginative way.
Students have been working in small groups to build their “Rubes” using as many steps possible to achieve the desired result.
Building a Rube Goldberg machine is a great way for students to think creatively, work cooperatively, and progress through the design and engineering process. It is a perfect addition to the physical science curriculum, as students can see the transfer of energy and laws of physics at work in their Rube designs.
