Caraline Sommer, a fourth-grade student at Gill Hall Elementary School, has been selected as a finalist in the PBS KIDS Writers Contest.

The contest was open to all students ages kindergarten through fifth grade. As a fourth grader, Caraline’s story had to include at least five original, clear and colorful illustrations with a minimum of 150 words of copy. As one of the finalists, Caraline had the opportunity to record a reading of the story she wrote and illustrated at the local WQED studio last week. Given the high volume of applicants, this is quite an honor for Caraline and Gill Hall Elementary School. The PBS KIDS Writers Contest is produced by PBS and is based on the Reading Rainbow® Young Writers and Illustrators Contest, a concept developed by WNED.
