Travis Chropka’s third grade classroom at Jefferson Elementary had a special guest reader this week. Susan Fancsali, a Pleasant Hills resident and the reigning Miss Allegheny County PA Collegiate 2016, visited the classroom and read the children a book, wearing her pageant crown and sash. She even gave each child a special bookmark in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

After listening to the book, students had the opportunity to ask Ms. Fancsali all about her pageant experiences and what she is studying in college. Ms. Fancsali is currently working on her master’s degree in business and spoke to the students about the importance of reading and getting a good education. The students were very interested in her career plans as well as her future pageants.
Ms. Fancsali will compete at the end of July for the title of Miss Pennsylvania Collegiate. All the students were pleased to find out that she gets to keep the crown and sash after her reign is over!
The highlight of the visit was when Ms. Fancsali let every student try on her crown. She even participated in the Jefferson Elementary morning announcements and posed for group photos.
