Lyssa Current was December's Student of the Month. Lyssa is a talented artist who plans to seek a double major in fine arts and art history. Her art experience includes freelance poster and T-shirt designs, murals, and storefront drawings. She has also drawn portraits and has provided drawings as a volunteer for the annual Relay for Life campaign at Charleroi High School. She is president of the Charleroi High School Art Club and is on the yearbook staff. Lyssa has had art work published in newspapers and magazines including the Chaffey College Review. She has been received scholastic art and writing honors including two Gold Key Awards, two Merit Awards and an American Vision Award. She has also received awards from the Zonta Club, Charthene Club and the Business and Professional Women's Club. She works part-time at Zelinski's Bridal and Prom Shoppe in Charleroi. Lyssa is the daughter of Mark and Maria Current.

Jaron Andrechak was January's Student of the Month. Jaron is a High Honors student who plans to major in business and marketing. He is president of the Class Executive Committee, treasurer of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America, and member of the Academic League. He is also president of the Drama Club, president of the Physics Club, captain of the Varsity soccer team, and editor of the yearbook committee. He is also a member of the newly formed Charleroi Middle School-High School Interact club. Jaron has received awards in FBLA Regional and State Conferences and at California University of Pennsylvania's Foreign Language Competition. He has also appeared twice as a member of the Charleroi team on KDKA's Hometown High Q Program. Jaron's work experience includes that of Charleroi Area Auditorium Coordinator and serving as a crew member at the Charleroi Dairy Queen. He is the son of John and Heather Andrechak.

The Interact Club is meeting regularly at Charleroi Middle and High School. With assistance from member Jaron Andrechak, the group recently hosted their first fundraiser. Flyers were sent to district students and to residents asking everyone to visit the North Charleroi Dairy Queen on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. For every meal that was purchased between 5 and 9 p.m. the store donated a percentage of its proceeds to the Interact Club. Additionally, $5 was donated for every Dairy Queen cake that was sold. In March, the students will undertake an initial outside project when they raise money for the National Leukemia/Lymphoma Society through its "Pennies for Patients" campaign. Sponsors Jessica Fritch and Colleen Arnowitz look forward to helping the students have a successful campaign.

As a reminder, the Charleroi Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at the Back Porch restaurant in Lower Speers. Meetings begin at noon and are held in the Side Door meeting rooms. For membership or program information, please contact Steve Arnowitz at 412-389-2096 or John Helfenstein at 724-494-3195.
