The students at Pleasant Hills Middle School (PHMS) organize a Thanksgiving Food Drive every year to benefit the Olivet Presbyterian Church Food Bank in West Elizabeth.

Last year, they donated almost 10,000 pounds of food to help the food bank assist local families at Thanksgiving and throughout the winter months. This year, the students surpassed their goal of over 10,000 pounds of donations!

The PHMS Student Council led the way for the food drive and helped to organize two events to benefit the drive: the staff vs. student volleyball game and the annual grade-level pancake breakfasts during homeroom periods. Students were admitted to these events by bringing two cans of food to each event.

The school continued to collect food until Wednesday, November 8 and the food was delivered to the food bank on Friday, November 10 in time for their Thanksgiving distribution.
