The American Legion Post 613 of Finleyville was involved in the awards ceremony this year. The American Legion Post 613 was represented by Mr. John Koller (post adjutant) and Mr. Chuck Ringling (financial officer).

The American Legion Award places emphasis on the development of the qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship and service; the ideals of Americanism which will make young people citizens of the highest type. The award recognizes the boy and girl who is most worthy of the highest qualities of citizenship and of true Americanism.

To qualify for the American Legion Award, students maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout their academic career, earn the appropriate score on the American Legion test, and are rated highly amongst their classroom teachers.

This year’s American Legion recipients are Benjamin Daerr, son of Kevin and Heather Daerr of Finleyville, and Madison Smith, daughter of Bryan and Nichole Smith of Monongahela.
