Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

The students at Madonna Catholic Regional School in Monongahela took part in many activities to explore this phenomenon, including a scavenger hunt, measuring, defining and calculating different circular objects. Sixth graders pictured here created Pi Day T-shirts to also celebrate the birthday of Albert Einstein on Pi Day.
