Religion

Beth Israel Center Synagogue is a small but active Jewish congregation located at 115 Gill Hall Road at the border of Pleasant Hills and Jefferson Hills.

Rabbi Amy Greenbaum is our spiritual leader and Arthur Weinblum is the president of the synagogue. Bernie Rubb will be the cantor for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the Jewish Holy Days in September. Holy Day services are free and open to the public.

The September 2015 Schedule of Services is:

  • Friday night - September 11 and September 25 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Erev Rosh Hashanah services - Sunday, September 13 with Rabbi Amy Greenbaum at 8 p.m.
  • Rosh Hashanah services - Monday, September14 and Tuesday, September 15 beginning at 9 a.m. concluding at approximately 1 p.m. with Cantor Bernie Rubb
  • Tashlich services - held at the Elizabeth, PA waterfront at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 14 with Rabbi Amy Greenbaum leading the event.
  • Erev Yom Kippur services-Tuesday, September 22 at 7:15 p.m. with Cantor Bernard Rubb
  • Yom Kippur services- Wednesday, September 23, 2015 beginning at 9:30 a.m. and concluding at approximately 1 p.m. Yiskor ( memorial service) will be held at approximately 11:30 a.m.
