Rostraver Township is pleased to announce the following community improvements:
Orr Road
Rostraver Township received a $59,039 grant from the Westmoreland County Conservation District as part of their low volume road program to do a 3,202 feet project along an unnamed tributary of the Youghiogheny River. Orr Road, Buddtown Road, and Budds Ferry Road routinely flood in this location during heavy rains. This project will make improvements to eliminate the flooding and reduce sediment from entering the tributary. The proposed work elements will include ditch improvements, ditch outlets added, road bank improvements, and stream crossing improvements. Rostraver Township will contribute an additional $11,700 of in kind service to complete this project which will be done in 2016.
Daughtery Lane & Indian Hill Road Waterline Extension
Rostraver Township received a Community Block Development Grant in the amount of $300,000 to install 7,600 linear feet of 8 inch waterline and necessary fire hydrants on Daughtery Lane and Indian Hill Road. On top of the $300,000 grant, Rostraver Township has committed a sum not to exceed $190,000 to complete the project. The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County designed, bid and will oversee the project which will be completed in 2016.

Rostraver Township has been awarded a $201,450 in grant funding from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program to be combined with a $35,550 cash match from the Township for a grant total of $237,000. This grant will provide the funding necessary to make the DiVirgilio Sports Complex an ADA handicap-accessible park by installing handicap accessible restroom facilities, more handicap-accessible parking, a handicap-accessible playground, and ramps/paths from the handicap-accessible restroom to the lower fields. Some of those improvements have been installed and the remainder will be completed this summer.
