At 7:55 a.m. on Saturday, October 3rd, there were already over 100 people in line outside of the Elizabeth Township Municipal Building waiting to get their firearms licenses. Some people waited in line for up to 7 hours, and the line was literally wrapping around the building, but many residents say it was well worth it.

Originally, the satellite firearms license distribution event, sponsored and hosted by the Allegheny Count Sheriffs Office, was to be held from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., but being that the turnout was well more than expected, they decided to stay until all 700+ people received their licenses. The sheriff’s office supplied pizza to the citizens patiently waiting in line at no charge.
Normally, to get licensed, participants would have to go to downtown Pittsburgh and stand in those lines, but the county wanted to try something a little different. This was the 1st of many potential satellite distribution centers they are setting up, with hugely successful results.
