Carroll Township Board of Supervisors announced at the November 9 monthly meeting their decision to rescind the previous purchase of a property intended to replace the current municipal building.
The property, which was to be purchased for $270,000, is located at 1378 Fourth Street, Monongahela, and was formerly the Four Oaks Personal Care Home. Most of the cost of the purchase was to be covered by a $250,000 grant.
After completing a survey of the property, the supervisors determined that parking was inadequate and the extent of the renovations was more than anticipated. The township will instead build a new municipal building using the grant money. The new building will likely include the township offices, the Sewage Authority offices, and the Police Department. The current building will also be utilized.
Also at the meeting, a resident inquired about obtaining information about gas well development in the township. The resident expressed interest in providing residents access to maps showing acreage covered by the gas wells, so residents could determine if they should be receiving royalties.
After contacting EQT, the resident was told that maps are available in Washington, PA. The resident asked the Board if the maps could be made available in Carroll Township for residents. The Supervisors will be contacting the representative from EQT to determine if the maps can be made accessible to residents in the township.
