More than 50 Western Pennsylvania Departments Earn Prestigious Platinum Awards
AAA East Central continued its tradition this year of honoring local police departments for their outstanding efforts in making their communities safer for all modes of travel.
In fact, 51 Western Pennsylvania departments received Platinum Awards, while an additional 47 departments were honored with Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards.
“We are honored to recognize these local departments for their efforts in the Community Traffic Safety Program,” said Terri Rae Anthony, AAA East Central Safety Advisor. “Each organization has gone above and beyond their call of duty to make their community a safer place for motorists and residents.”
Platinum - The Platinum awards were given to “Commendable Leaders” for their safety efforts and enforcement activities geared towards making communities safer. The recipients of the prestigious awards for the South Hills and Mon Valley areas were police departments in: Baldwin, Brentwood, Castle Shannon, Clairton, Homestead, Mount Lebanon, South Park, Upper St. Clair, Canonsburg, Cecil, North Strabane Township, Peters Township, South Strabane Township, Washington, and Greensburg.
Gold - Gold awards, the second highest recognition to be given, were awarded to the following police departments in the South Hills and Mon Valley areas: Bethel Park, Munhall, Scott Township, Chartiers Township, Donora, Connellsville, and Monessen.
Silver - Silver awards were given to police departments in: Bridgeville, Elizabeth Township, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills, Waynesburg, Uniontown, and North Huntingdon.
Bronze -Bronze awards were given to police departments in: Carroll Township, Charleroi, and Perryopolis.
AAA East Central conducts a variety of free highway safety programs throughout Pennsylvania focusing on all age groups. The Club also partners with law enforcement and safety agencies on initiatives to improve the safety of the community and local highways.
