October 1, 2017 marked the beginning of a new era for residents of nine local communities with a new name for their ambulance service. Elizabeth Township Area EMS and Jefferson Hills Area EMS have merged and are now SouthEast Regional Emergency Medical Service.
A “Bridging the Gap” ceremony took place on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Elizabeth Riverfront Park. The bridge symbolizes the primary link between the two agencies. |
The newly named agency is basically just that, a newly named entity. Residents will continue to receive the same or better high-quality care from the same people, using the same equipment, and responding from the same locations. This merger comes after 14 months of review and collaboration between both departments with the goal of ensuring that residents will continue to receive the high quality EMS they have come to expect.
