A Carroll Township resident expressed his frustration with road crews working on the Route 88 and Route 837 project at the June 6 monthly supervisors’ meeting.
In recent weeks, the crews have been working at night using high intensity lights, and the noise level is making it difficult to sleep, according to the resident, who questions why the crews are not working during daylight hours.
The Penn Dot project, which includes the installation of left turn lanes and a new traffic signal, began over the winter and is currently behind schedule, with Verizon recently halting daylight construction because of the installation of fiber optic lines.
Chief of Police Paul Brand, who believes the unusual work schedule was a temporary plan to accommodate Verizon and school bussing, will get information on the status of the night crew work.
Also at the meeting, the supervisors announced a public hearing for the newly-written Carroll Township medical marijuana ordinance. The informational meeting is scheduled for July 5 at 5:00 PM at the borough building and will allow residents to become informed about the ordinance and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
In other business:
• The Supervisors approved the hire of summer employees Dimitri Rossi, Chad Waggoner, and Justin Maher.
• The Supervisors approved the new 2017 Carroll Township Municipal Directory and Guide to be produced by Print.
