On March 6, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the West Newton Borough Building, S. Water St., a town meeting will be held to discuss concerns about Chevron Gas Company and their plans for changes to our community.
We believe it is our responsibility to list the changes that would affect our community, the Yough River, and other property for your review prior to the above meeting:
A pump is going to be installed on Borough property located between our sewerage plant and the junk yard. Pipes would be 16" and the waterline would run for 6 and 1/2 miles to South Huntingdon Twp. The pump would be enclosed and removed until they need it again, 3 or 4 times a year. Water would be taken from the Yough River daily for 9 wells. Each well will need 1 million gallons, or 9 million gallons for 9 wells.
Please consider phoning your state representatives and the Dept. of Environmental Protection to help us with this problem. DEP: 171-705-4704. Kim Ward, State Senator: 7240-600-7002. Justin Walsh, State Representative: 724-929-2655.
