The South Park Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting on July 11, at 7 p.m.

As the meeting began, the Board first recognized two individuals who formally served the Township. Linda Yee was a member of the Library Board from 2008-2015 and Mel Cecotti was a member of the Planning Commission from 1998-2016.
The Supervisors then continued with the meeting, discussing the following topics:
A non-exclusive license agreement was approved between South Park and the residents at 2261 Watchfield Dr. The agreement will allow the construction of an aluminum rail fence to be placed within a sanitary sewer easement.
South Park police officer Brian Jesionowski has now been appointed to full-time employment status.
The Township hired an intern, Adam Mark, through the Municipal Intern Program, sponsored by the Local Government Academy.
Susan Perkins has been hired to fill the position of full-time library clerk.
Aaron Laughlin has been hired to be a laborer for the South Park Public Works Department.
A motion was made to authorize the amendment of Ordinance No. 556 “Zoning” as it pertains to Ordinance Nos. 652, 664 and 678, which address gas and oil activities, to further address compressor stations and other related matters. The adoption date of this amendment will be determined at a later Township meeting.

With the resignation of Mel Cecotti, John Papinchak has now been appointed to the Planning Commission.
The members of the South Park Township Public Works Department will be attending a training class, “Asphalt Roads Common Maintenance Problems/A1,” on November 2 at the South Park Township Community Center.
The Board authorized the participation of the Township in the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County’s Vacant Property Recovery Program.
Officer Brian Jesionowski will be attending a training, “Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement,” at Broughton Volunteer Fire Department from September 12-13.
To authorize the sale of several of the Township’s vehicles, a formal public bid opening will take place on Thursday, August 4 at 10 a.m.
Regarding the 2016 Point Repair Contract, the first payment request, in the amount of $73,007.50, has been submitted by Plavchak Construction Co. and was approved.
Two payment requests were submitted by Insight Pipe Contracting L.P. for the 2016 lining contract for all work completed to date. In total, the payment of $157,605.88 was approved to be paid to Insight Pipe Contracting L.P.
