During a recent council meeting of Elizabeth Township, the meeting began with Officer Dan Novecek of the Canine Committee, who stated that K-9 office Eli is now 16 months old and is a cross between a German Shepherd and a Belgian Malinois. He still has some training to do, as he's halfway trained on bite work. Novacek has raised over $4,000 and says they hope to raise more. All donations can be sent to the Elizabeth Township Municipal Building, Attention: K-9 unit.
Chief Kerestas of the police department says there were 552 events logged by Allegheny County 9-1-1 with 21 adult arrests, 2 juvenile arrests, 61 traffic stops with 12 traffic citations issued, 16 motor crashes with 9 reportable and 7 non reportable and 3 injuries.
John Castine of the road department is continuing on the wall along Happy Hollow and the 2016 paving project.
Many motions were addressed during this meeting, including the motion to approve the bill warrant in the amount of $193,117.03 which includes $2,349.75 for sanitary department payroll that will be reimbursed from sanitary funds. The motion to approve payment to El Grande Industries in the amount of $344,455.79 out of the liquid fuels account was passed. The motion to approve the bid of $7,454 for carpet replacement in the office to Robert Obusek Carpet Service was passed. The motion to approve the wire transfer from the Sanitary Operating Fund in the amount of $514,372,.83 to BNY Mellon from 2009, 2011, and 2012 interest on sewer bonds was passed. The motion to award the Lovedale Sanitary Sewer Relocation project to Lawson Excavating in the amount of $61,125 was passed. The motion to advertise for the assistant to mechanic position for the Public Works Department with an hourly rate of $25.26 was passed. The motion to execute the snow and ice agreement between Elizabeth Township and Allegheny County was passed, and lastly, the motion to authorize payment to officer Novacek in the amount of $82.43 out of the K-9 donation fund for reimbursment of supplies purchased for K-9 was passed.
Claire Bryce addressed the Board and asked about the audit, and Rhoderik said it was done June 30th. Lauren Zang confirmed that she never gave the credit card to Claire and that the credit card was in Bobbi Jo and Harry Faulk's name.
