On April 14, 2016, Valley Garden Club (VGC) held a Memorial Tree Dedication at the Mon Valley YMCA garden in Charleroi, PA.

The tree, planted last fall is a Coral Bark Japanese Maple and was given in memory of Violet W. Zuro, mother of Janice Yeaton, and Mabel M. Bradley, mother of Margaret Ziolkowski, who recently passed away.

Honored, too, was Mardell Page, a nominee for the Perennial Bloom Award for the Central Atlantic Region. Mardell Page, VGC chaplain, gave the invocation. A poem by Henry Cuyler Bunner titled "The Heart of the Tree" was read by Grace Martin. Angela Raitano responded with a poem by Wes Domasky, titled "Trees."

Before the tree dedication, the members of VGC did their annual clean-up of the YMCA garden. Following the tree dedication, the members held a short meeting to discuss and finalize their upcoming standard flower show, to be held on June 30 at the Monessen Public Library.
