Library Board President John Maisch poses with the student winners of the RPL poetry contest

The contest, held to mark National Poetry Month, was open to school-aged children as well adults in the region. The library received nearly 200 entries.

Library Board President John Maisch welcomed the guests by noting, "We were, in this case, a regional asset with entries from Richeyville, Eighty Four and Perryopolis, as well as our local students." He went on to remark that the student entrants represented public, Catholic, and home-schooled pupils.

Recipients of the Barnes & Noble gift cards were: student winners Maria Spedeliere; Thomas Phillips; Gianna Laurita; and Mikaela Ryan; and adult division winner was Carol Aten Frow.

The library programming committee hopes to make this an annual event.
