The Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at noon at Monongahela Chess Park - and made good on their promise of rain or shine.

On that day, right before the event was set to begin, the rain began to come down. The Chamber has been holding the event for 30 years now – rain, shine, or snow.

At the event, a big crowd of parents stood, some with umbrellas, in line to have their children’s pictures taken with the Easter Bunny in the gazebo. Then, the children raced to gather Easter eggs in rainy weather. The age ranges of the children were from toddlers to 8 years. There were also drawings and treat bags. Names were called, and prizes were awarded.

Chamber Board Member Doreen Walters said, “We do this every single year, and we do a lot of fundraisers. We hold this just so the children can have a good time and enjoy themselves. We do a lot for the community.”

Mainly in charge of the Easter Egg Hunt on the Chamber Board were: Dr. Randall Rodriguez-Vice President, Doreen, Bill and daughter Sharley Walters, Don and Cis Fraser, Chris Grilli, and Les Pemberton. The Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce is to be commended for their many years of bringing smiles to children’s faces at this event.
