Peters Township Park and Recreation Department is offering the following classes at the Community Center. Pre-registration required.  All classes can be viewed at www. peterstownship.com on the Parks and Recreation web page. The Rec Center is located at 700 Meredith Drive, Venetia. Session 2 classes (8 weeks) run from March 6 – May 1.

Kids In The Kitchen

(AGES 5 – 10)

Minimum 7 – Maximum 15

During each four-day program session, children will learn new baking techniques.  Supplies, ingredients, and recipes are all included.  Participants will learn hands-on and will have the opportunity to make cakes, cookies, and pies as well as some savory items. Instructor: The Pie Place

Day: Tuesday (4 weeks)                      Time: 5:30 – 7 p.m.

Fee: $115 Member / $173 Non-Member

Exploring Engineering

Junior Mechanical Engineering (MAKING TOYS) 4 weeks     

(GRADES K - 2)

Minimum 6 – Maximum 10

Toys classes introduce our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of energy, materials, and movement. Students explore and construct six different toys throughout this unit, including spinners, magical boomerang cans, wind-up whirligigs, and more.

Day:  Friday, March 11, 18, 25 and April 1      Time: 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Fee: $110 Member / $165 Non-Member

Apprentice Aerospace Engineering (4 weeks)

(GRADES 3 AND UP)

Minimum 6 – Maximum 16

During the Aerospace Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of flying machines.

Day:  Friday, April 8,15,22,29            Time: 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Fee: $110 Member / $165 Non-Member

Painting with a Twist

(AGES 7 – 15 YEARS)

Minimum 12 – Maximum 20

Come and relax while our artists walk you through creating a masterpiece of your very own!  You will have a blast while letting your creative juices flow! Two classes available one in January and February. No walk-ins. Must make reservation.  Instructor: Painting with a twist instructor.

Day: Sunday, March 13

Time:  2 – 3:30 p.m.

Fee: $25 Member / $38 Non-Member

Classic Cake Decorating   (6-week course)

(AGES 18 AND OVER)

Minimum 8 – Maximum 15

We will learn the classic butter cream decorating techniques of shells, roses, figure piping, basket weave, and more, and we will finish with a beautiful cake topped with a royal flower ornament. Supplies and equipment are student’s responsibility and will be discussed first class. Certified Instructor: Sharon Blasch

Day: Thursday, March 3 – April 7     Time: 6 – 8 p.m.

Fee: $50 Member / $75 Non-Member

Hardbody

(AGES 16 AND OVER)

Minimum 6 – Maximum 25

This one-hour strengthening and toning class focuses on the full body, particularly arms, legs, and core.  Using both equipment and body weight exercises, this class focuses on toning muscles with intermittent cardio intervals. All levels welcome. Instructor: Natalie Corkos

Day: Wednesday Time: 7 – 8 p.m.

Fee: $50 Member / $75 Non-Member

 

Dance It Out!

(AGES 12 – 16 YEARS)

Minimum 5 – Maximum 25

Total body cardio dance workout, created by Billy Blanks Jr. Includes Hip Hop, Country, Bollywood, Disco, Latin, and more! No experience required. For all fitness levels. Get in shape, have FUN doing it! Certified Instructor: Ashley Wilson

Day: Sunday (AGES 16 AND OVER)    Time: 1 – 2 p.m.
