The giant light switch is being readied for the 31st Annual Light-Up Night at Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH). The free, family event that kicks off the holiday season in the Valley will be held Monday, Nov. 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Central Plaza.

The colorful event will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus, Frosty the Snowman and a sing along before two appointed children flip the switch to light up the holiday decorations throughout campus. Charleroi High School’s Show Choir will lead the crowd singing carols and an ensemble from a local high school marching band will lead Santa’s sleigh onto campus. Free hot cocoa also will be provided.

Guests are encouraged to bring cameras to capture their young ones sitting in Santa’s sleigh, visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus and posing by the two-story Christmas tree.
Free parking will be offered in the hospital’s parking garage for those exiting after 7 p.m.

“Every year we add a little something extra,” said Louis J. Panza Jr., MVH’s president and CEO. “I am confident that those joining us for the festivities this year will enjoy the new surprises.”
