Charleroi Patriotic Banners Now Available for Public Community Display

The Charleroi Area Historical Society, Inc., a recognized 501©3 non-profit, along with a committee of citizens chaired by Nancy Ellis and in cooperation with the Borough of Charleroi, the members of Charleroi Veterans Council, and varied Charleroi organizations such as The Charleroi Belgian Club, The Friends of the Coyle, and the Rotary Club, are announcing that a Charleroi patriotic veterans banner program has been initiated.

Banners are available now. Citizens involved in the committee include: Stacy Bongiorno; Roselyn Jenkins; Neal Contromano; Robert Duhon/Sluggers; Sharon Colisimmo Rapp; Aaron Vincik; Blanche Bongiorno; Jennifer Watkins/Miss MV Pageant Director; Max Antonucci (Navy veteran); Nikki Sheppick (ASA veteran); Dave Dipiaza; and George Maund/Charleroi Belgian Club Treasurer.

Specifics you need to know:

1) 18" X 42"" banners will be displayed in the Boro of Charleroi. With a US flag background, the banner is double-sided and printed with a picture of the veteran, name/rank/hometown/war or station base, service branch and time in service, and with name of sponsor at the bottom. The offer will include a bracket set plus hardware for public display, and provided is online presence to showcase the Charleroi veteran's tribute information that will be on the Charleroi Area Historical Society, Inc. Facebook site and also the Charleroi Borough website.

2) The one-time cost is: $110; a pole preference site is to be noted with an additional $10 fee, but will be addressed on a first-come, first-served basis.

3) Application forms will be made available to those seeking to honor a family or friend veteran from the following places: The CAHS, Inc. Goaziou Building- Mon. or Fri., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or The Boro of Charleroi Office during office hours.

4) The forms plus a clear photo - preferred military garb – and a check or money order are to be sent to the CAHS, Inc. as follows: The Charleroi Patriotic Heritage & Remembrance Fund, 807 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, PA 15022.

A Fund Finance Committee will collect and administer the funds accumulated, and all funding is to be directed to the banners to be hung with any profit to benefit veterans programs, their interests, (living or deceased) heritage, and/ or memories that benefit the Charleroi community area.
