The Monessen City Park Amphitheater Committee will present two final events for the 2015 season. All events are free and open to the public. Both events are also looking for volunteers, vendors, and crafters. Interested parties should contact the Amphitheater Committee.
Monessen Fall Festival
The Monessen Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from noon-4 p.m. at the Monessen Amphitheater. Vendors, Food, and Crafters will be on hand to sell their wares. A chainsaw artist will do demonstrations and a musical act will also perform, during the day.
Before the event, from 8 a.m. - noon on the same day, a local group will host the first ‘Give Back Day’ in Monessen. All residents, of all ages are encouraged to participate. Interested people will meet at Monessen City Park at 8am and can go to the location of their choosing, wherever help/work is needed. Depending on the number of people interested, the group hopes to clean Monessen parks, roadways, and do any other minor work that needs done throughout the city, as a way to take pride in Monessen.
Second Annual Monessen Trunk-Or-Treat
On October 31, 2015, the Second Annual Monessen Trunk-Or-Treat will be held at the Monessen City Park walking track at 5 p.m. Participants will park their cars along the Monessen City Park Walking Track, decorate their trunks, and pass out candy to children at the event. People of all ages are encouraged to participate in this community event. A costume parade for children and pets will be held at the event, and prizes will be given. Prizes will also be given for the ‘Best Decorated Trunk.’
Registration forms for car entry, pet registration, and child registration are available upon request. Child registration forms will be available at Monessen City Schools in mid-September. Interested parties can also email monessenamphitheater@gmail.com or call President Matt Shorraw at 724-212-6159 to find out how they can register!
Following the trunk-or-treat, Nightmare on Elm Street will be played at the Monessen Amphitheater, followed by a community bonfire at the fire pit, at Monessen City Park. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the movie and are free to bring music instruments for the informal gathering at the fire pit. S’mores will be available at the fire, first come, first serve.
