In celebration of its 20 years of promoting and facilitating local philanthropy, the Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is hosting a unique contest that will take participants on a journey to different charities that the Foundation has supported through its grant-making.

The Game of Phones contest will be held from August 1-20, 2015. To participate, individuals who are 18 years of age or older must register online by visiting www.wccf.net and be a registered Facebook user who likes the WCCF’s Facebook page. Facebook registration is free and can be obtained by visiting www.facebook.com and following the instructions to open an account.

To play, participants must find clues on the Foundation’s Anniversary Timeline on www.wccf.net. One clue will be posted for each year (1995 to 2014). The clues will lead to 20 different charity locations in Washington County, PA.

At each of the charity locations, there will be a checkpoint poster that indicates a game clue has been solved. Using his or her authorized Facebook account, each participant must take an individual “selfie” (self photograph) with the checkpoint poster and post it to the Washington County Community Foundation’s Facebook page, noting the game’s designated hashtag: #WCCFGameofPhones.

To be considered a valid entry, each photo must be posted to the Facebook page of the Washington County Community Foundation (Washington, PA) from a registered contest participant’s authorized Facebook account. Both the participant’s face and the checkpoint poster number must be clearly visible in the photo. To keep the game competitive, participants should not disclose the location of any clue through the photo entry or its corresponding caption.

For each photo entry that is posted to Facebook, participants will receive one chance to win one of 20 prizes which include, among many other prizes:

  • 2 Tickets to the Steelers vs. the San Francisco 49ers on September 20 (Home Opener)
  • 2 Tickets to the Penguins vs. Florida Panthers on October 20
  • 4 Tickets and a Parking Pass to the Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs on September 16

Participants who post photo entries from all 20 contest locations will receive an additional 20 chances in the lottery.

There will be 20 winners total for the Game of Phones contest. Prize winners will be determined at random by a computerized lottery program. Using the order in which they were chosen by the lottery program, the winners will be contacted to select a prize from the prize options that are available.

Contest prizes have been generously provided by Senator Camera Bartolotta; Channel Craft; Coen Oil; Dove Professional Auto Detailing; Rear Admiral Bill McGowan, U.S. Navy (Retired); Napoli’s; Observer Reporter; Sarris Candies; the Trew Family; and WCCF Trustees Tripp Kline, Tammy Hardy, Deborah Takach, and Dorothy Tecklenburg.
