Monessen Community Development Corporation and MHS Students Beautify Monessen

The Monessen Community Development Corporation and the Monessen High School Leo’s Club combined their efforts to paint more than 40 benches surrounding the newly paved Monessen City Park walking track and throughout the park.

Coordinating the volunteer group was former Monessen mayor, Mary Jo Smith, who is also the chairman of the Monessen Community Development Corporation. She engaged the services of William Manus, professional painter and former Monessen City Councilman. Paint, brushes and other materials were donated by the Monessen Park Restoration Committee.

The group of volunteers who worked for two days included William Manus, Mary Jo Smith, Matt Shorraw, Kathi Harhai, Rosalie Nicksich, Matthew Leach, John Harhai, Dillion Shash, Maria Lucy, and Quelar Jones.

The civic project is one of many that the volunteers from the Monessen Development Corporation has done and will continue to do so in collaboration and partnership with other groups and agencies.
