The Mid Mon Valley Shipmates, who have presented a program on flag etiquette for our national flag to hundreds of school students in area schools, will be the special quests of the Charleroi Area Historical Society On Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m.

Barry Anders, Executive Officer of the Shipmates, informed Ken Thompson, CAHS, Inc. President and Program Coordinator, that the Shipmates have made this presentation on flag etiquette not only to school students, but also to many adult organizations. Their presentation is approximately 40 minutes in length. Its ten parts include information on such things as how Old Glory got its colors and symbols, what our flag code says, and the proper way to fold the flag.

Mr. Anders assures those in attendance will grow in their understanding and respect for our national flag - just in time to prepare for Flag Day 2015 on June 16. There also will be time for questions and more discussion. Light refreshments will be served.

The CAHS meets on the third Monday evening of each month at 7 p.m. March through November and cordially invites its members and non-members to attend. Its programs are held in the Riverside Room, 301 Plaza Dr. in the SPHS building.
For more information, call CAHS, Inc. at 724-483-4961 or Ken Thompson at 724-925-1742.
