On Monday, March 2, Mon Valley Hospital hosted the Mon Valley Good Citizens Award Breakfast for the Boy Scouts of America. This annual event showcases what scouting has done in the Mon Valley communities.
The 2015 Good Citizen Award went to Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone. |
After a blessing by Reverend Alan Morrison of the First United Methodist Church of Monongahela, breakfast was enjoyed by many prominent members of the community. Eagle Scout Garrett Harkins of Belle Vernon gave a presentation on his Eagle Scout project and the values he has learned through scouting.
Charleroi Attorney Herman Bigi presented the 2015 Good Citizen Award to Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone. District Attorney Vittone has been involved in scouting in the Mon Valley for most of his life, having received his Eagle Scout rank from Mr. Bigi in 1975. Currently, Mr. Vittone continues to serve as an adult leader in Troop 1419 in Finleyville, PA.
The breakfast presented an opportunity for members of the community to learn about and support scouting and its good works in the Mon Valley, raising over $3,600 for that cause.
